What you haven't said out loud
You're trying to give them something while everyone's still around to enjoy it.
Mom is in her seventies and still pretty active. Dad doesn't get around quite like he used to. The grandkids are still small enough to want to be in every photo. Your siblings can still all be in the same room without it getting weird. The dog is still the dog.
This window doesn't stay open forever. That's why you've been quietly researching this for the last three weekends.
This is the house that makes the trip possible.
The anniversary version of you
The moments you're hoping for
The toast
Late afternoon, the Bay glowing, cargo ships drifting past on the horizon — sometimes a cruise ship slips by on the way to Baltimore. Twenty-two people on the deck, glasses raised, the speech you've been writing in your head for months. The west-facing light makes everyone look ten years younger. This is the photo you'll frame.
Dinner for everyone
The long table set under the lighted pergola — seats 20 for the family dinner. Bring your favorite caterer; we'll send our short list when you book. Two hours of food, three hours of stories, four generations under one roof. The pergola is the room you remember without remembering the room.
After dark
Once dinner's cleaned up, the fire pit becomes the late-night living room. S'mores for the grandkids, wine for the adults, stories nobody's heard before. Twenty-plus chairs around it. This is where Dad says the thing he's never said. This is where the trip becomes the memory.
Your private banquet hall
1,600 sqft under 16-ft ceilings. Room to spread out if the weather turns. Slideshow on the white wall (BYO projector + sheet — it works great). Step-free ramps for grandparents. Other rentals charge extra for space like this. Yours is included with the booking.
The quiet morning
Coffee on the rear deck while the house is still asleep. Purple martins doing acrobatic flips catching bugs over the lawn. Maybe a great blue heron at the marsh. If you're stealthy, deer at the feeder. Mourning doves on the rail. The kind of slow morning that doesn't exist anymore back home — and the kind Mom keeps mentioning since you got back.
The shared adventure
Two crab traps live in the front-yard ditch. Walk them out, drop them in, see what you pull up — blue crabs are abundant April through mid-December. Most of the grandkids have never done this. Most of the adults haven't done it since they were kids. It's the activity nobody planned that everyone talks about.
The atmosphere that makes it unforgettable

Golden hour at the pergola — this is the moment people come back for year after year

The sitting room where the real conversations happen — unhurried, comfortable, all yours

The Bay from the front deck — the backdrop every romantic memory deserves
Every room, at the scale a group uses it

When you want to leave the house
Most of the weekend, your family will want to be at the house — on the deck, by the fire, in the kitchen. But when you're ready for a town day, Cambridge is a full experience of its own, 40 minutes up the road.
Historic Maryland harbor town. Walk the harbor, lunch at Portside Seafood for the oysters, the kids ride the carousel at Long Wharf Park. Round trip in a half-day.
17.7 miles from the house. A powerful immersive museum the older kids will remember. Tubman was born and worked these exact creek-and-marsh roads.
19 miles. 28,000 acres of bald eagles, ospreys, tundra swans in winter. Bring binoculars. The grandparents and grandkids both love this one.
Most anniversary groups do one day-trip and spend the rest of the weekend at the house. That's the right ratio. The house is what you came for.

"We had such a fantastic stay! The house truly lived up to the listing—tons of space for our group of 20, and the layout made it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy. The host was amazing: super responsive, thoughtful, and proactive with details and local tips. The property itself is beautiful and private, with a great backyard and a huge flex barn. The kitchen had everything we needed, and all the linens were spotless. We'd absolutely come back for another stay!"

This was a must for us as we were traveling with elderly parents with limited mobility. The setting is scenic but the location is more remote than some — so good for those looking for a quiet and relaxing time. We enjoyed nearby restaurant called "Old Salty's." We appreciated how responsive the host was to our suggestions and questions. We appreciated small details, like laundry baskets in the rooms as well as Tupperware in the kitchen, puzzles and card games in the sitting area. I believe the host is continuing to add more amenities as guests send more suggestions!"

It was quiet and private enough that we had a great sense of privacy and comfort while still being not too far from stores, restaurants, and other things to do if you want to get outside. The views on the drive in and over the water were incredible"
